Treatment plants all work on the same principle: the balance of the tank volume, the amount actually pumped into the wastewater in the tank, and the amount of solids in the water that need to be treated, will result in the quality of effluent that will be produced.
On the other hand, there are tanks being sold in Mississippi that claim they will treat 600 G.P.D. These tanks have a 750 gallon treatment tank, they use an aerator that is putting out 50 litres to 80 liters of air and are used to treat the wastewater coming from a 3 or 4 bedroom home. The quality of the effluent being discharged from these wastewater treatment plants is, in many cases, below standards.
It is up to you to ask questions of the installer that wants to install your system. Do not ask how much and leave it at that. Also, trust but verify what the person is telling you. There are installers out there that know what they are talking about and others that don’t know much more than you do.
Desoto Concrete Products, Inc. has 24 different treatment plants models that could be installed at a 3 or 4 bedroom home. Add in the number of plants that we offer for homes larger than this, and you can see that your installer needs to be very knowledgeable.
For builders, a good system to install is our expandable system. These systems work well as installed, but if the input of wastewater exceeds the treatment capacity of the system, the system can be expanded in order to compensate. This is a good option for builders because they quite often do not know how many people will be moving into a new home or what will be flushed down the drain. The substandard system that I described above is not expandable.
If you call an installer and he gives you a price, ask if other options are available. If he says no, this one size fits all, you might want to call other installers. Ask them to contact Desoto Concrete Products, Inc. for advice if necessary.
DCPI has a multitude of treatment plants, both with and without pretreatment. Models range from 500 - 1,000 gallons per day (GPD).
